Can you feel the Louvre II
Dammit! I slept in!!!
I woke up thinking, “wow, it’s bright here at 5am.” Then, “hmmm, construction workers get up early in Paris.” Then I realized I’d kept my iPad time set for Toronto’s EST time zone, and it was actually 11am here. So much for being at the Louvre by quarter to 9.
Rather than only spending half an afternoon soaking in the art (for which a full day still wouldn’t be enough) I opted instead to take part in another Parisian tradition.
I made my way to the Opéra, and headed for the Galeries Lafayette. Here, one can try on as many clothes as one wants, and if you like something, all you have to do is pay them and you get to take it home with you! The French call it “le sha-PEENG.”
The best part, by far, was looking through rows of high end couture lines that are all selling at ridiculous prices. Prada/Miu Miu/Missoni/YSL/etc. were selling for sometimes less than 150€.
You can get jealous now. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
If it makes you feel better though, none of their pieces fit me well. It was tragic.
*le sigh*
Anyhow, the Louvre is closed tomorrow, but I’m planning to buy a Carte Louvre Jeunes (only 15€) that will let young adults under 26 visit multiple times. Weird age restriction, but I’m not going to complain. Good thing too, because Wednesday afternoon I’m going to Franglish, check them out at http://www.franglish.eu/en.
Till tomorrow (unless I get lazy and conglomerate several days worth of anecdotes into one post instead…), bonne soirée!
